Art North is a visual arts competition for artists who live or work north of Cross County Highway in Hamilton, Butler, and Warren Counties of Ohio. The Sharonville Cultural Arts Center is seeking artists working in painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, glass, and mixed media for a competition and exhibition to showcase talents of visual artists in Sharonville and nearby northern neighborhoods.
Cash prizes will be awarded from within the select group of artists whose work is chosen for the SCAC inaugural exhibition of this annual visual arts and fine crafts competition.
1 Grand Prize $100
Plus a contract for 6-week solo exhibition at the Westheimer Gallery in 2019
2 Juror’s Awards $50
Matt Distel, Curator at The Carnegie, will select the final award winners.
All artists entering the competition will be considered for solo or group shows
at the Sharonville Cultural Arts Center in 2018.
August 15 Deadline for submission: 5 p.m.
September – second week – Artists will be notified via email.
November 3, 6, 7, 2018 Work will be accepted at S.C.A.C. for installation (Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday – times to be determined)
Friday, November 9, 2018 6 – 8 p.m.
Exhibition Opening: Reception and Awards Ceremony.
November 20, 2018 – December 15, 2018 – Art North 2018 Exhibition
Saturday, December 15 after 2 p.m. or Tuesday, December 18, 2018
Artist must pick up artwork or have provided pre-paid return packaging.

Work maybe created in select media and must be for sale.
Innovative contemporary artwork is encouraged in the mediums of Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Printmaking, Glass, Ceramics, and Mixed Media.
Work eligible for consideration must be the result of independent effort and original, that is not a copy or variation on the original design of another artist working in any medium.

All entries must be NEW work – completed after January 1, 2016.
All work must be for sale and price listed. Each artist may submit up to three (3) pieces for consideration. Artist’s information must follow entry format shown below and be submitted with images via email to email@example.com by the August 15 deadline.
The subject line for the email must read: Art North 2017 – ENTRY
Entry Fee: $30 (one entry fee for up to three submissions)

Mail to: Sharonville Cultural Arts Center, 11165 Reading Road, Sharonville, OH 45241.
Up to three (3) images may be submitted. Images should be in focus, clean, and clear. The work should appear as you would wish it to be reproduced (so that we may post images on our web site and in social media).
Images must be of completed work, NO WORK IN PROGRESS.
Digital Image File Specifications
FILE TYPE: JPG
Be sure each file is .JPG and carries the extension “.JPG”. The “JPG” file must be formatted to be PC Compatible. Acceptable resolution of 72 dpi; images should be no smaller than 1000 pixels on any side. Upon acceptance, artists may be asked for high resolution images.

Entry form/support document:
Along with the images, artists are required to submit a document following the format shown below to provide the name, address, phone and email of the artist and details regarding the submitted images. The required information may also be inserted into the body of the email.
Accepted artists will receive notification by the second week of September.
Submission of a work of art for consideration shall be understood to constitute an agreement on the part of the artist to all the conditions set forth.
This will also grant Sharonville Cultural Arts center the rights to reproduce and distribute the images through print and electronic media for promotion of the exhibition and entrants. Artist will retain all copyrights to their work.
The artist is responsible for all insurance on the accepted artwork.
All artwork must be for sale. Normal gallery procedures will be followed in the event of a sale – the artist will be paid 60%; Sharonville Cultural Arts Center will retain 40% of the retail price listed on the entry form. This applies to any sales during the event or mediated by the gallery staff after the exhibition.
Delivery and pick-up
Artists are responsible for delivering to and picking up their work from the Sharonville Cultural Arts Center on the dates listed on the calendar.
